Review of a Stunning Book "Ayyan Ayyan Yo Yo"

“Ayan Ayan YoYo” an impressively creative endeavour by Mehmood Sham, a leading intellectual and journalist of Pakistan, written to enhance creativity and love for reading among the children of Pakistan. “Ayan Ayan YoYo” is not an ordinary book but it is very special for a simple fact that it contains poems which groom the young minds by inculcating among them love for the sights and sounds besides grooming them to firmly stand by the values of Pakistan. The characters and depictions in the book are indigenous in their manifestation and the young minds identify with the book to the core. The book is beautifully illustrated and the poems are very graphical and vivid since they reflect the imaginative process of young minds. The poems are representatives of Pakistani culture. The vivid illustration of cities, streets, roads, birds, flora and fauna and a beautifully contrasting image of rural and urban life tells a lot about the rich imaginative and creative capacities of the poet. The poems in the book are so simple in their linguistic expression that the children will fall in love with the poems. The phonics used in the language is very simple and easy to retain besides it is pleasant to hear when the poems are sung as songs.
